Adega de Silgueiros
Adega Cooperativa de Silgueiros, CRL was established in 1959, started commercializing in 1964 and it is a cooperative with aprox. 2000 members, winegrowers from the Silgueiros region. It is very recognized national and internationally due to the high quality level of the Wines. Adega de Silgueiros is certified with IFS and one of the most recognized Cooperatives in Portugal.
ABOUT SILGUEIROS
Silgueiros is located in the area of Viseu city, about 9 km from Viseu center. Due to the geographical location, Silgueiros it is in a privileged area for the production of precious and well known wines.
The soils, of sandy frank origin, provide a splendid aroma to the wines and the vineyards slopes, facing the Serra da Estrela and the Dão River, create a unique climate for the maturation of the grapes. It is usuall to say that Silgueiros is the “heart” of Dão Region.
ABOUT DÃO
The Demarcated Region of Dão wines, established in 1908, occupies, almost entirely, the southern half of the province of Beira Alta, extending over an area of 3760 km2, of which around 5% is occupied by vineyards, with a area of 20,000h.
This region, where vineyards predominate between 400-500 m, but up to 800 m, is known as the Birthplace of the Touriga Nacional and Encruzado grape varieties.
